Hello again! The season is winding down, but somehow still remains busy. Friday and Saturday mornings are volunteer harvest mornings for one more week to attend the last Main South Farmer’s Market of our second season. Sales at both the farmer’s market, and to various vendors and residents of Worcester have been growing and increasingly successful throughout the season. The time I have spent at the family shelter, bonding with staff and residents through food has been inspiring and moving for me. Balancing sales and donations has been harder than I thought, especially when preference and familiarity with vegetables comes into play. I will be sure to share with you all lessons learned this season, in hopes that we all can continue to learn from our experiences, and improve our capacity to reach out to the community in a supportive and meaningful way.
As the season closes, another season will soon be underway, and I will continue to post as internship and volunteer opportunities as they arise, as well as community events.
For now, check out this website all about real food that will sustain us in the long run: http://foodday.org/
